Hunt C. Braly In May, 1999 Mr. Braly became a founding partner of Hacker, Kanowsky & Braly, LLP, Santa Clarita’s first locally owned full service law firm. In 2004, the firm changed its name to HackerBraly, LLP. Mr. Braly specializes in land use, development, real estate and lobbying matters. Mr. Braly has performed extensive entitlement and other government work in the City of Santa Clarita and other local communities. His current clients include Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, Casden Development, Vista Canyon Ranch, Coastal Vision, Castaic Lake Water Agency, Hank Arklin, Route 66 Restaurant and Wilcox Landscaping. His past clients include S&S Construction, Salt Creek, Poquito Mas, Rent-A-Bin, Melody Ranch,Patrick/Eller Media, Knowaste, Burrtec Waste, the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, Philip Morris Corporation, Gate/King Partners, Pacific Bay Homes and Public Storage, Inc. In Sacramento, Mr. Braly has also been retained over the years as a legislative advocate to represent numerous clients, including the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District, Castaic Lake Water Agency, Pacific Voice Track, Voluntary Plan Administrators, Pacific ProVenture Group, Knowaste, The Animal Welfare Alliance, and the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority. In addition he is a registered legislative advocate in Los Angeles County, where he has represented Hank Arklin, the Mountains Conservancy Foundation, Warner Financial Development, the Frawley Family Trust, Premiere Studio Rentals, and in the City of Los Angeles where he has represented the Scottish Rite Temple. From July 1983 until December 1992, Hunt C. Braly served as Chief of Staff to State Senator Ed Davis, the former Los Angeles Police Chief and Vice Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. In that capacity, Mr. Braly was integrally involved with the drafting and successful passage of legislation and initiatives. His accomplishments include:
· Passage of legislation creating the Santa Clarita Woodlands Park. · Local Agency Formation Commission reforms to allow city incorporations. · Assistance in the drafting of the Victims Bill of Rights Initiative, which was passed by the voters. · Legislation protecting police officers from exposure to disease infected criminals. In Santa Barbara County, Mr. Braly represented Coastal Vision, Inc., in obtaining its approval of a 267 home project outside of Lompoc and continues to represent them in obtaining various land use approvals in Lompoc and Simi Valley. Locally in Santa Clarita, Mr. Braly has successfully represented Home Depot, In-N-Out Burgers, Hank Arklin, Gate-King Partnership, Eller Media, Melody Ranch, and Zephyr Newhall in various land use and administrative issues before the City of Santa Clarita. In 2005 Mr. Braly assisted Golden Valley Ranch’s commercial and residential development after its rejection by the Planning Commission, and Gate/King Partners’ 4.5 million square feet commercial development in Newhall (which was approved unanimously on a 5 to 0 vote by the Santa Clarita City Council in 2003). In 2007, Mr. Braly was asked by Henry Mayo Hospital to put together a team to assist it in gaining approval of its 15 year Master Plan after it had encountered significant opposition. Over the next two year period, Mr. Braly helped guide the Hospital through the Santa Clarita approval process and on December 9, 2008 it was approved on a 4 to 1 vote. Currently his land use clients in the City of Santa Clarita include Casden Development, Vista Canyon Ranch, Hank Arklin, Route 66 Restaurant, Wilcox Landscaping and Zephyr Newhall, LP. In 2005 Mr. Braly received the 2005 Political Advocate of the Year award from the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce and has been named the 9th most influential person in the Signal’s List of the 51 Most Influential Santa Clarita Residents. He has served for 6 years as a Member of the Board of the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce and also is on the Boys and Girls Club Foundation Board. Mr. Braly also serves as president of the SCV Chapter of the Los Angeles County Lincoln Club. Mr. Braly graduated from the University of Southern California in 1977 and Loyola of Los Angeles Law School in 1980. He has been a resident of Santa Clarita since 1989, where he resides with his wife, Pamela and his 16 year old daughter. His 24 year old daughter graduated from Valencia High School and the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandizing, and resides in San Diego. |
